NEIGHBORHOOD EMPOWERMENT PIPELINES

Through the Goldhirsh Foundation's LA2050 initiative, The Snap Foundation selected TYS as a partner to support Los Angeles’ goal to become the best place to connect, create, learn, live, and play. Snap's sponsorship, along with funding from the Office of LA County 2nd District Board Supervisor Holly Mitchell, and our collaboration with UCLA's Community Youth Program (as an Administrative Agent for LA City Economic Workforce Development Department) has made it possible to implement a long-envisioned initiative that truly achieves TYS’ core mission to elevate and transform LA’s underserved communities.

This initiative provides a stable and cohesive journey from 2nd thru 12th grade within the same neighborhood - an unbroken path of growth, self-awareness, leadership, and collaboration ensuring students' continued academic and personal development, while equipping them with the tools and connections they need to launch a successful professional future.

Neighborhood Arts Education Empowerment Pipeline Students:

  • Begin Program participation as 2nd through 5th graders;

  • Deepen their academic, social/emotional, and cultural portfolio as 6th-8th graders;

  • Broaden and apply their skills as 9th-12th graders;

  • Begin employment with TYS in high-school and college and with other organizations & commercial companies
